WordPress Plugin Launch: One-Click AI Licensing

43% of the web runs on WordPress. Today, any of those sites can add AI licensing in 60 seconds.

The WordPress Plugin Is Live

After months of development and testing, the Copyright.sh WordPress plugin v1.0 is available in the WordPress.org directory.

Install it now: Search “AI License” in your WordPress admin plugins page, or visit wordpress.org/plugins/copyright-sh-ai-licensing

What It Does

The plugin adds machine-readable licensing to your WordPress site:

  • Auto meta tag injection: Adds <meta name="ai-license"> to every page
  • AI-license.txt generation: Creates domain-level license file at yoursite.com/ai-license.txt
  • Per-post overrides: Different licenses for different content
  • Global policy configuration: Set default license for entire site
  • Automatic payto fallback: Uses your domain as payment identifier

How to Use It

Basic Setup (2 minutes):

  1. Install plugin from WordPress.org
  2. Go to Settings → AI License
  3. Choose license type: Allow, Deny, or Custom
  4. Save settings

Your content is now licensed for AI systems.

Advanced Setup (5 minutes):

  1. Set global policy (site-wide default)
  2. Configure per-post licenses for premium content
  3. Set pricing for commercial usage
  4. Add your Copyright.sh payto ID for royalty tracking

Technical Implementation

The plugin implements the Copyright.sh v1.5 license grammar:

action ; [distribution:level] ; [price:amount] ; [payto:account]

Examples:

  • allow;distribution:private – Free private use
  • allow;distribution:public;price:0.15;payto:creator – Paid public use
  • deny – Block all AI usage

What’s Next

The plugin currently handles license declaration. Phase 2 (Q1 2026) adds license enforcement:

  • HTTP 402 responses for unpaid AI crawlers
  • JWT license token validation
  • Real-time usage analytics
  • Automated royalty collection

But today? Every WordPress site can declare its terms. That’s 300 million potential licensing endpoints.

The infrastructure is live. The standard is defined. Now we need creators to use it.

Install the plugin. Set your terms. Join the future of content licensing.
